Heart of the South West LEP Annual Conference

Our CEO, Martin Bellamy spoke to over 300 delegates at The Heart of the South West LEP Annual Conference.

The overarching themes of the Local Industrial strategy covered during the conference were Clean growth and inclusive growth; ensuring that increased productivity is sustainable and that prosperity benefits the whole of the community.

Gravity is proud to be the first UK project to receive public funds for infrastructure from a local enterprise partnership.

Martin spoke about the incredible opportunities on the horizon, with Gravity well positioned to become a regional catalyst for Clean Growth.

We’re pleased with continued support from the Heart of the South West LEP, which has enabled our journey to progress so rapidly. I was honored to speak to the LEP’s network, I look forward to the next opportunity to update them on our progress

Martin Bellamy: Sedgemoor Business Conference

Our CEO,  Martin Bellamy, will be speaking at the upcoming ‘Well Connected for Growth, organised by Sedgemoor District Council, held on December 6th.

The conference  will be an opportunity to learn about the potential for growth across the region and in particular along the M5 corridor.​

Martin Bellamy will be speaking about the future growth of Gravity and the hopes for it becoming a beacon for the developing clean growth economy in the South West.

Claire Pearce: Planning for Future Prosperity

Director of Economic Development,  Claire Pearce, will be speaking at the upcoming ‘Planning for Future Prosperity conference organised by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), held on December 3rd.

The seminar will examine the contribution of planning to meeting the needs of a rapidly changing economy and explore how planning can encourage innovation and sustainable growth in the face of the ‘fourth industrial revolution’.

Claire Pearce will share the lessons which can be learnt from her experience of leading the planning team which thought strategically about the social and economic benefits to the wider community and how this can now be integrated into a positive legacy through ongoing economic transformation via the Gravity project.

Gravity Heritage Event - A look back at ROF 37 Bridgwater - 13th November

Gravity invites the local communities to join us in discovering the rich heritage of the Royal Ordnance Factory.

To remember ROF BridgwaterSedgemoor District Council (SDC) and the South West Heritage Trust (SWHT) are inviting you to share your memories to ensure the legacy lives on.

The South West Heritage Trust is looking to create a living historical record of what life was like working in an industry that played a vital part in the manufacturing of defence materials during the Second World War. The project aims to gather as much information as possible to create a historical record of what life was like for those who lived and worked in this important local industry. ’ They are actively looking for photos and other memorabilia.

At the session you can find out how to be part of this project. You will also hear from Gravity, the new owners of the site and their plans to once again make the former ROF Bridgwater area an integral part of the community.

Gravity and our appointed contractors, Alun Griffiths, hosted a local drop-in session. We were thrilled with the reception we received. Our representative on the ground, Paul Lowndes was answering queries about the access road.

Festival for Sustainable Business

17th September 2019 – Gravity attended the inaugural Festival of Sustainable Business hosted by the Future Economy Network.

The Festival Gala Dinner was the Grand Finalé to the Festival of Sustainable Business which celebrated the great work being done across the region by businesses who are progressing on their sustainability journey.

Martin spoke of the positive impact that Gravity will have on the local economy and the driving catalyst for the regions goal to become a hub for Clean Growth.   

It was encouraging to meet such a plethora of pan-sector businesses who are making significant inroads  towards sustainability, which is becoming an ever more important target, Gravity looks forward to attending similar events.
